CAI's Data Center business is exploding. Major Hubs of activity are WA, WY, TX, NY and CO but you can work remotely if you are open for travel.

Position Summary

This position performs electrical infrastructure testing according to a project schedule.  This is NOT an entry-level position.  The electrical test engineer should have a working knowledge of electrical one line drawings and a general understanding of Electrical systems:  power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power, UPS and renewable energy systems.  He/she will drive the functional performance test for each electrical system assigned and is expected to be able to competently follow approved test scripts.  Needs to be self-motivated and willing to actively engage contractors/vendors to set up testing to complete all required activities for project success

The witness, verification and validation of proper execution of commissioning tests is to be documented by the Electrical Test Engineer.  The quality of documentation is vital to success of program and the Electrical Test Engineer is expected to have knowledge and ability to complete all document requirements.


  • Conduct all electrical tests with a direct regards for safety.
  • Complete commissioning and performance acceptance testing of the electrical infrastructure systems.
  • Provide input into electrical test procedures.
  • Document all electrical test results and analyze for proper adherence to required and industry standards.  Documents may include, but not restricted to, commissioning test scripts, event logs, trend data, technical reports and issue logs.
  • Coordinate with project contractors and equipment vendors to execute required tests.

Critical Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA (or equivalent) safety requirements.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Experience with Data Centers.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Distribution Switchgear, Substations, Uninterruptable Power Sources (UPS), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Batteries, Emergency Diesel Generators & Load Banks.
  • Knowledge of power quality analysis.
  • Strong experience with Word and Excel.

Working Conditions

  • Extensive travel may be required (50-75%)
  • Work under construction site conditions
